There is much written in the Book of John. In the very first verse, John insisted that the gospel was based on the evidence of his physical senses - he had heard, seen and touched Jesus.

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life>" John l:1

It is important that we are in awareness of this when we read, study the word and share the word with others. Many people think the bible "is a nice book with nice stories" but are not aware of the reality and truth of it. This verse is one that explains that when it was written, John had first hand experience with Jesus.

We have first hand experience with Jesus when we come into a personal relationship with him, but we do not get to see and touch him the way John did.

In verses 2 and 2, John says, "(for the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us. That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ."

So we also should share the gospel with others for the same purpose. There are many who do not know the truth of these verses. Also, in meditating on these verses, it brings me into a greater spiritual reality.
