Help the Weak

Lady of Light

In Acts, Chapter 20:36 it says, I have shown you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said "It is more blessed to give that to receive."

When we become aware that all that we have comes from the hand of God, we have a different attitude about giving. If God has blessed you with a job or resources, it is important to think about helping others - the weak and to be involved in legislations that protect and provide for weaker segments of our society - the elderly, the disabled, the poor, the handicapped. Recently, Governor Corzine signed a bill to help families who have children with autism. There are many programs out there and also assistance - some of it is free and public but some of it takes money.

I know that we get many calls from charities who are trying to provide for certain segnments of the population. You do have to be careful to make sure they are ligitimate, but giving even a small amount makes a difference.

If you don't have financial resources to give, give in prayer or in your time helping others. My husband and I just started delivering "meals on wheels". It is a relatively small task but it does make a difference on the lives of some.

I just joined the prayer group for In Touch ministries, the ministry of Charles Stanley. It only takes a few minutes a day to pray for their special ministries - right now particularly in Chine. Just go on www.intouchministires.org and you will find the registration for the prayer group. They provide an online calendar of things to pray for.

I hope that as you go through your day, you will think of ways to give to the weak as the scripture speaks of.

God bless you and have a great day!
