Identify True Wisdom

Lady of Light

As we go through life and are confronted with decisions and choices we need to make,
we can take comfort in God's promise in James 1:5:

"If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not: and it shall be given him."

When we need to identify wisdom, we can be guided by God's description of it in James 3:17-18:

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace."

As you face different choices and decisions in life, consider these wonderful words.

God bless you and have a great day!

How do we recognize wisdom?

Lady of Light

Often, we seek wisdom - we ask God for it and we pray for it as we try to handle difficult situations in life and as we try to understand what God is saying or what God wants us to do. How do we differentiate between our own mind, the influence of others and circumstances that can be confusing?

In James, Chapter 3:16-17, the bible says the following:

"For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy."

These are the signs that God is imparting wisdom. If it is pure and peaceful, gentle and full of mercy.

I hope that this portion of the word may help you to discern God's wisdom in your daily life.

God bless you and have a great day!

God Changes People

Lady of Light

The epistle of Philemon is a letter written by Paul to advocate for a slave named Onesimus who ran away from his master and went to Rome where Paul was. While he was there, he became converted and he was a changed man. Paul convinced him that the right thing to do was to return to his master and so Paul wrote his master a letter. In the letter - Philemon v. 10-11, Paul makes mention of Onesimus' transformed life:

"I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds: Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me"

Onesimus was converted and persuaded to go back to his master and Paul requested that his friend, Philemon, receive Onesimus as a brother.

There may be people that you know who have changed their lives over time - sometimes even family members who are away from the family for a while - receive them well when they return. I know that God changed me and he continually changes others.
It is just a good thing to remember, because sometimes, we dwell on people's mistakes and miss the good things that God has done in their life as time goes on.

God bless you and have a great day!

Advocate

Lady of Light

In First John 2:1-3, We are told that Jesus is our advocate with the father:

"My little children, I write unto you that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments."

Many times do people get into situations where they need an advocate in this world - someone or organization that advocates for children, the handicapped or the elderly, for example. When we look at the above verses, we can realize we have the most important advocate in the person of Jesus Christ. In 1 John 1:9, it also tells us that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

These verses are important for us and you can see that you can also see that we are referred to as "little children" because we are children of God. We need to confess our sins, seek cleansing and forgiveness and know that Jesus is not only our Savior, but our Advocate as well.

God bless you and have a great day!

God sends angels

Lady of Light

There are verses in the bible that say that "God's angels camp around us." To me this is an amazing concept. We are kept from troubles we don't even know about and strengthened in ways we don't realize.

In Luke 22:43, It says, And there appeared an angel unto him (Jesus) from heaven, strengthening him."

This was after Jesus had been praying to his Father, regarding his future plight. If God would do this for Jesus at His most trying time, he can also do the same for us.

Remember, as you go through difficulties that through prayer, God's supernatural power is available to you, sometimes in the form of an angel.

God Bless you and have a great day!

Thank you letter

Lady of Light

How many of us have written a "thank you" letter - perhaps for a Christmas or birthday gift, or for a visit at someone's home? A good example of a "thank you" letter is the book of Phillipians where the apostle Paul writes to the church at Phillipi to thank the church there for their support of him. In Phillipians 1:1-7, we have an example of how Paul shows gratitude for the believers there.

"Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ to all the saints in Christ Jesus whic are at Phillipi, with the bishops and deacons:
Grace be unto you, and peace, from God upon every rememberance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye are all partakers of my grace."

Paul lets the believers at Phillipi know that he keeps them in his heart and prayers and that he thanks God for them.

As you think of loved ones and friends who have been good to you, perhaps you can let them know that you are thankful by letting them know they are in your hearts and prayers. Paul sets a good example here as he shows appreciation for them.

God bless you and have a great day!
