Peace of Mind

Lady of Light

In 2 Thessalonians, 2:1-4 states:

"Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."

First, we can see that Paul is concerned about the mental and spiritual condition of the Thessalonians and is also warning them about being deceived by men. He also speaks of the fact that many will "fall away" during the end times prior to the return of Christ.

We know that in this regard of peace of mind, we can claim the promises of Phillipians 4:6-7 which states:

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

May you have divine wisdom and peace with God today.

God bless you and have a great day!

Believe

Lady of Light

In John 3:11-16 states in the words of Jesus:

"Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that which we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

We are indeed fortunate that the bible contains the very words of Jesus himself. Our response to this truth is simply to BELIEVE. Jesus points out that if we can't believe earthly things that have been seen, how can we believe in heavenly things that are unseen? We believe these things on faith and with the knowledge from God's word that Jesus, himself, spoke these truths.

God bless you and have a great day!

Charity

Lady of Light

In Second Thessalonians,1:1-4, Paul says, "Paul and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonian in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth; So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure."

As you can see, Paul is writing to this church with the best wishes for them and he is pleased in how they have grown in faith and CHARITY towards one another. This makes me think of the role of CHARITY in my own life. I simply ask God to guide me in my giving and sharing whether it be people in the church, family, neighbors, or organizations.

Meditate on these verses today and think about how you are growing in faith and what your role in charity towards those in the church and in the world can be.

God bless you and have a great day!

Honor Jesus

Lady of Light

In John 5:19-24 states:

"Then answered Jesus and said unto them: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do; for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them, even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honoureth the Father. He than honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation but is passed from death unto life."

These verses, spoken in Jesus' own words tell us that if we do not honour him, we do not honour the Father. Many people speak of God but do not know Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son as their personal Savior and Lord. If they do not know and honor Jesus, according to these verses, they are not honoring God. So let us "fix our eyes upon Jesus" as the hymn says, and fully honor our God today.

God bless you and have a great day!

A Witness

by Lady of Light

In John 1:1-3, it states, "That which was from the beginning which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which is with the Father, and was manifested unto us.) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ."

The gospel of John is a significant and important book because John had first-hand experience with the Word and he gives a first hand account of the gospel. When we know that someone is giving us what we refer to as "first-hand information", we can trust it.

The whole bible is the divine word of God, but in this particular book of the bible, John is relaying the truth from the stand point of a live witness.

This makes me desire to spend time in this book, and I hope you will do the same.

God bless you and have a great day!

Call on the name of the Lord

Lady of Light

In Acts 2:21 it states "And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

Sometimes we imagine that we must do all kinds of things to have the gift of salvation.
We can not do anything (no work) to EARN our salvation. It is a gift from God and as this verse states all we have to do is to call on the name of the Lord. In our complex world today there are so many different beliefs and things spoken, but this is a simple message of clarity right from the word of God.

Let us respond to this and share it in its truth and simplicity with others.

God bless you and have a great day.

Jesus Draws Men to Him

Lady of Light

In John, Chapter 12:32 states (in the words of Jesus):

"And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to me."

Often, I feel sadness when I think of the crucifiction of Jesus, and the way He was treated by some in this world, but when I see that He, in His own words tells us that if he be lifted up from the earth all men will be drawn to Him. This is a great truth that gives purpose to the suffering of our Lord.

This should also help us when we suffer for the purposes of God or when we give personal sacrifices to God and others in this life.

I know that I am most joyful and peaceful when I think of Jesus, reigning in power and glory at the right hand of the Father.

May you be blessed by this word today!
