Healing

Lady of Light

In John Chapter 5:4-8, it states:

"For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in (the pool) ws mde whole of whatever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, "Wilt thou be made whole?" The impotent man answered him. Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, "Rise, take up thy bed and walk."

This command of Jesus caused the man to be healed and also because he wanted to be whole and he turned to Jesus. Although this passage speaks of physical healing, it can also be applied to spiritual healing as well. When we turn to Jesus and accept him as our Lord and Savior, we are made spiritually whole and as we "Walk" we find that we, too, can receive healing for all kinds of fears and doubts that we may have been living with for a long time, as we draw near to Him, get to know Him and recognize His power and strength.

May you be blessed by today's reading - have a great day!

Foolish Wisdom

Lady of Light

In I Corinthians: 3:18-21 states:

"Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. FOr it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. And again, the Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise that they are in vain. Therefore, let no man glory in men. For all things are yours."

Sometimes, we think we know the answers from life's experience, but apart from God ahd His wisdom, we are nothing. Oftentimes, we honor men and become impressed with them and these verses are simply telling us not to glory in men, but give God the honor and glory for all things. I believe these verses are important, because the apostle Paul was warning men not to deceive themselves into thinking they are wise when they are not. We need to pray, trust in God and rely on God for everything.

God bless you and have a great day!

Eternal Life

Lady of Light

In the Gospel of John 1:1-3 states"

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and show unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ."

This is the purpose and the basis for the recorded word in the Gospel of John. They witnessed these things and have recorded them to tell us that they have seen and heard of the manifestation of Eternal life. Eternal life comes from a personal relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. If you wish to be assured of Eternal life, bow your head and say a simple prayer, "Lord Jesus, I accept you as my personal savior and the one who died for my sins that I may have everlasting life."
Amen. This will bring you salvation, peace and forgiveness to start life anew.

Continuing to read the Book of John will reveal many truths to you. I hope that meditating on this portion gives you strength, increases your faith and encourages your gratitude of heart for what God has done for you.

God bless you and have a great day!

God is Able

Lady of Light

I don't know about you, but sometimes when I think of my own limitations and see obstacles in my path, I don't always remember immediately to exercise my faith and say confidently "God is able!" In Luke 3:7-8 it states:

"Then said he (John the Baptist) to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham."

So, John is letting these people who are sinners know that GOD IS ABLE.

We sometimes at church and bible study sing a little chorus "He's able, He's able, I know God's able, I know he's able, he's able to carry me through."

As you go through this day, I hope you will be blessed by this meditation.

God bless you and have a great day!

Loyalty to God

Lady of Light

When we go back and take a look at the Church at Corinth, we can see how the apostle, Paul addressed various problems that were occurring. Just as the world is today, Corinth was a very large, busy--and immoral city. That environment surely contributed to problems in the church.

One of the things Paul did was to urge them not to let their preference for various ministers obscure their primary loyalty to God. I know that I listen to three preachers on television, Charles Stanley, Joel Osteen, and Creflo Dollar. Each has a particular set of spiritual gifts which minister to me, however, it is the way in which they highlight the truths of God's word, and how the Spirit allows me to hear and learn and grow that is really at the essence of these experiences. It is easy, as human beings to prefer the personality of preacher to another or to focus too much on the person, rather than the message.

In 1 Corinthians 3: 3-9, Paul addresses this situation:

"For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos: are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. For we are labourers together with Go: ye are God's husbandry, he are God's building."

While it is true, that we need to support the leadership in our church, our focus needs to be on God, and our loyalty to him. It is only through our loyalty to God that we can truly offer the right kind of support to our Pastors, Ministers and leaders.

Take a cue from Paul, and stick close to God and His word above people.Everything will "fall into place" if you do this.

God bless you and have a great day!

Foolish Galations

Lady of Light

In Galatians 3:1-11 states:

"O, foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore, that they which are of faith, the same are children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

Even back in those days, the churches needed correction. In Galatia, Paul made sure that they understood that a work had been begun in the Spirit and could NOT be made perfect by the flesh. How often do we attempt to "handle things our own way, or on our own instead of walking with Jesus in the Spirit? What is true of the Galatians is also true of many today.

As you meditate on this section of Galatians, remember the key verse is that "THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH."

God bless you and have a great day!
